The MOLA is a museum which is dedicated to the diverse style of liberalism of the artist An Idiot. Its tasks include collection, preservation, documentation and communication. The MOLA is currently accommodated in a building which is very suitable for adequately presenting the stylistic and thematic variety in An Idiot’s work, due to its structural division into light and dark, and wide and narrow areas. Rooms up to 9 metres high and with a length of more than 60 metres convey the freedom of the art and the associated breadth of the style. The light sections of the building are dedicated to the theme of the bright side of life, and the dark areas to the darker side.

The further you go into the semi-subterranean basement, the darker the themes become. In contrast, the balustrade over the large main hall almost appears to be floating. This makes the building into a mirror and a part of the art presented in it.

Art knows no limits. For art = creativity and creativity = variability. This means art = variability. Nature as the creator of the universe and as the greatest artist of all times showed the way. Art = variability. Even in its highest form.

There is, therefore, nothing that is not worth being portrayed by the artist An Idiot. For visuality is the essence of fine art. In all its aspects. The limitless variety of life. The finiteness and endlessness of existence. Non-existence. Everything that surrounds us and doesn’t surround us and moves us and doesn’t move us. Simply everything. The bright and the dark sides of life. One’s own life. The life of others. Inorganic and organic. Hot and cold. Wet and dry. Beautiful and ugly. Funny and sad. Everything that was, that is and that is to come. And that is not. Really simply everything. The boundless variety in the past, present and future. The limit is not the sky, not the universe, but far beyond our imagination. Liberal visualisation as the essence of fine art. An Idiot’s styles are as diverse as his themes. And his technique is as innovative as his method.

The artist An Idiot comes from nothing. He cannot be explained. Just like you cannot explain where nature comes from. He is incomprehensible. He is faceless, precisely because he has so many faces. Stylistic faces. He has already made it as an artist. Didn’t want to keep painting in the same recognisable style. Destroyed all the work that he had already created and disappeared for 25 years, in order to build up his own art world with a diverse style in the meantime.

Then, at the end of 2012, after exactly 25 years, he was suddenly back again. This time anonymously, because of the unrestricted freedom. He calls himself An Idiot, so that he can enjoy a fool’s licence. The unlimited freedom of an idiot. Nature is his great inspiration. With its free, boundless creativity. For it used this to create the universe. Thus, An Idiot sees nature as the greatest artist of all times. The optimum of art. Its diversity is his model for getting closer to the essence of art, as an artist. Even if it is just a little bit.

The artist An Idiot has many styles. He would like to get as close as possible to nature and thus to art. For art knows no limits. And art = creativity and creativity = variability. This means art = variability. Nature as the creator of the universe and as the greatest artist of all times showed the way. Art = variability. An Idiot’s working method consists of an unlimited number of styles. Picasso did it to some extent one hundred years ago. And perhaps Gerhard Richter too. For art is variable.

An Idiot has invented a new painting technique which crosses boundaries in terms of its liberalism. He combines digital and analogue painting and calls this technique ‘digitanalogue’. It is digital painting. With the look and feel, i.e. with the texture, of analogue painting. Such as, for example, of oil, paint, rubber, airbrushing, graffiti or enamel. Individual combinations of different painting and transfer techniques in each case make this possible.

A bridge. After 40,000 years of analogue and 30 years of digital painting. The forging of a link from the past and the present into the future. An Idiot also calls this ‘Painting 3.0’ for short.

But the digitanalogue technique does not only cross technical boundaries. It also makes it possible to paint large formats outside a studio. Anywhere in the world, however small and isolated. This is also freedom. This is also part of An Idiot’s liberalism.

And the new technique allows even more than this. The direct implementation of cultural and thematic influences right on the spot. The playful crossing of stylistic boundaries. The recycling of one’s own and other people’s works of art. The conservation of different stages of the creative process. The modification and variation of interim results and much more. In brief: the digitanalogue technique makes it possible to work like nature. And thus to get closer to art.

The MOLA is right on the Vilafranca del Penedès
South exit of the N340. Or it can be reached very easily via the AP-7 (Mediterranea), as it is only approximately 450 metres away from the Vilafranca del Penedès South exit.
